Story in yesterday’s Detroit News showed that once again Ottawa and Kent Counties led the the State of Michigan in population growth in 2015.
It’s no wonder.
Growing up in Wayne County I had the typically parochial view that the Detroit area was where everything happened economically in Michigan and the rest of the state was where we all went on vacation.
Moving here in 1994 I was stunned at the level of innovation, manufacturing expertise and business acumen that really defined West Michigan. People here make things–an astounding variety of things–and they do it in exceptionally well-run companies. That translates to opportunity.
Opportunity combined with our quality-of-life ratings makes West Michigan a very attractive employment and lifestyle destination. We’re not a well-kept secret any more.
