"Job Angels" show our better side

Randy Boileau

I came across a great story in Workforce Management about a growing national movement called the “Job Angels.” Made up of professional recruiters and other HR folks around the country, the Job Angels are regular people who are pitching in to help others who’ve lost their jobs—which is benefitting unemployed workers and employers nationwide.

The Job Angels represent the better angels in all of us. It is a grassroots network of more than 6000 volunteers who are connected across the country through social media sites like Twitter, Facebook and Linked In. People who are out of work can connect to the Job Angels to find employment leads, encouragement, support and a positive sense that they aren’t in it alone.

Employers are benefitting as well, because Job Angels volunteers (many of them professional recruiters) are helping qualified people get plugged in to employment opportunities at no charge to the employer. A website and other improvements are in the works to make the group even more effective as it grows. One of the best uses of effective communications I can imagine. Very cool.
